Belgium, Brussels, 17 November/ Trend , corr. E.Huseynov/Te use of military forces by Russia in the Caucasus, which is a part of Europe, and Kremlin's intention to change the existing borders, cannot be approved by the international community, Kurt Volker, the U.S. Ambassador to NATO, believes.

"When you see what Russia has done in terms of using the military forces to try to change the borders in Europe, that is something that no European country can be happy about. It is a complete contradiction to the principals of the Helsinki Court and the Charter of Paris that set up the structure of European stability and security that we have today, Volker said answering to a correspondent of Trend .

Volker believes that the fact that Russia has used forces in Georgia to change the borders in Caucasus has a bigger application for Europe as a whole

In US perspective the South Caucasus maybe a little bit removed from Europe, but it is looked at this like a part of Europe. "There are historical ties, cultural ties, things that link the Caucasus region to rest of Europe, so it is important for just perspectives for region," Volker said.

In the South Caucasus, according to Volker, there are countries that are seeking to cement their sovereignty and their independence and we need to stand for the sovereignty and independence if these countries and territorial integrity of this countries. That's got to be clear.

There is also the question of energy. "This is important for Europe to have diversity of energy supplies. It is not only Russia, there has got to be another countries and another forms of energy We of course have Russian oil and gas we should be looking at other who can provide oil and gas the Europe," Volker added.

This, according to Volker, does not mean that Russia will not be a provider of energy to Europe of course it will. " Russia is major energy exploring country. We want to avoid however situation of monopoly where one county dominates a market and it is never healthy market situations," Volker aid.
