Azerbaijan, Baku, 18 November / Trend , corr. J.Babayeva /Political parties, which previously were united in the opposition Our Azerbaijan bloc, are likely to expand the Azerbaijan Opposition Cooperation Centre.

"The Musavat party proposed an idea on cooperation of all political parties, which stick to a single position towards the authorities and existing political conditions, within one centre. If the idea will be accepted by other parties, the opposition parties previously united in the Our Azerbaijan bloc, will cooperate in the centre," Arif Hajili, the head of the Central Executive Department of Musavat, which is united in the Opposition Cooperation Centre, said to Trend .

Centre for Opposition Cooperation includes bloc Azadlig (Popular Front Party of Azerbaijan, Liberal Party, Citizens and Development Party), Musavat Party and For Azerbaijan public forum. At early September, Azadlig bloc, Musavat Party and the Public Forum 'For Azerbaijan' signed a joint statement on recognition of the presidential elections to be held on 15 October as illegitimate. Government to be formed after the presidential elections was announced as illegitimate in the statement.

Parties represented earlier in the Our Azerbaijan bloc, creates a bloc around Musavat party in connection with the municipal election. Our Azerbaijan bloc, which united 24 opposition parties, was founded during the presidential elections in 2003. The goal of the bloc was to support the candidacy of Isa Gambar in the election.

Hajili said that the creation of a new bloc around Musavat by political parties, which previously were united in Our Azerbaijan bloc, had nor been discussed. "The relations amongst parties united in the bloc with Musavat are still being held. The issue is not to create a new bloc, but to support candidacies of parties during the municipal election," Hajili added.

The cooperation of the Musavat party with political parties, which are not united in the Opposition Cooperation Centre, in connection with the municipal election, will not prevent their representation in the Centre. "Musavat supports a joint participation of opposition parties in the municipal election. A united opposition coalition is possible to establish during the municipal election. For this purpose, Musavat held preliminary talks with some parties, which are united in the Centre, with regard to joint participation in the election," Hajili said.

Hajili stated that Musavat may introduce proposals not on joining of opposition parties, which previously were united in the Our Azerbaijan bloc, to the Centre, but to stand amongst co-founders of the organization.

Ali Aliyev, the co-chair of the Azadlig bloc, which is united in the Center, and chairman of Citizens and Development Party, said that he had no information regarding the official position of the party to establish a bloc around Musavat in connection with municipal election. "Each party is free to act. The intention of the Musavat is to create an organization is not a factor that would affect the presentation or not presentation in the Center. The party reserves the right to voice its attitude on the format of the Cooperation Center," Aliyev said.
