NATO PA For Discussion of Georgian Entrance at NATO Summit of Heads of State - Azerbaijani Delegate

Azerbaijan, Baku, 19 November / Trend corr. P.Hamidov / NATO Parliamentary Assembly has supported the discussion of Georgian membership in the alliance at the NATO Summit of Heads of State. Siyavush Novruzov, an Azerbaijani parliamentary delegate to NATO PA, told Trend over telephone from Valencia on Tuesday.

The NATO PA regular session held in Valencia From 14 to 18 November did not make any decision on the invitation of Georgia into NATO, Novruzov said.

"Some countries even opposed to Georgia's membership, because a country lacking territorial integrity cannot be admitted to the organization," he said.

Georgian President Mikhail Saakashvili spoke at the meeting about the August events and consequences of the conflict in South Ossetia.

The NATO PA session also discussed the development of alliance, investigation into the August events in the Caucasus, etc.
