Azerbaijan is Important Staging Area for Dialogue among Civilizations and Cultures: Presidential Office

Azerbaijan, Baku, 20 November / Trend corr. J.Babayeva/ Azerbaijan is not only an important centre of transportation of power resources but is also an important base where merging, dialogue and exchange of views on the effective interaction of cultures and civilizations take place, department head of the Azerbaijani President's Office said.

"In recent years Azerbaijan has improved its political area and got to the point that political analysts call the beginning of democratic consolidation," Elnur Aslanov, head of the Department of Political Analysis and Information at the Azerbaijani President's Office, said during the round table entitled Azerbaijan in the 21st Century - Strategy of Success on 20 November. According to Aslanov, this is a very important stage of up-to-date development of the state, especially in the new world order. Azerbaijan is a country gradually forming its civil society. In recent years the State has laid foundation for the future formation of the foundations of the third sector, its effective cooperation with the authorities and society, said Aslanov." Azerbaijan is a bridge between cultures, civilizations and geo-economic centres. This is a big responsibility to Azerbaijan and I am sure the Government will fulfil this task with success," said Aslanov.

" Azerbaijan's strategy of success" is debated in Baku at a round table on 20 November with the participation of prominent political scientists and representatives of state structures of the region. Discussions take place in two sessions - Azerbaijan and Eurasian Space - Stability and Development and The Role of Political Parties and the Functioning of the Political System of Azerbaijan; Program of the New Azerbaijan Party as a Basis for Successful Development of the Country.

The discussions involved Alexei Ostrovsky, the chairman of the Russian Parliament's Committee on CIS Affairs and Relations with Compatriots; Elkhan Nuriyev, the Director of the Centre for Strategic Studies at the Azerbaijani President's Office; Valery Tursunov, the President of Institute of Eurasian Studies development foundation; Ali Ahmadov, Executive Secretary of the New Azerbaijan Party and a member of the Azerbaijani Parliament; Rashad Rzaguliev, Director of the Social Development Foundation; MPs, political scientists and representatives from Georgia, Kazakhstan and Iran.
