Government continue food aid delivering – minister

Afghanistan, Kabul,25, November / corr. Trend A. Hakim/ The government of Afghanistan decided to buy 25000 tones of food to sell in low price.

Transmission of food aid to northern vulnerable provinces districts continues so far, says Asif Rahimi the Agriculture minister.

According to Agriculture and Rural Rehabilitation Development ministers, the government have bought enough food and supplied them in stores to sell in low price when the food price surge in the country.

Delivering of food to the vulnerable provinces has been started from Mazar-e-Sharif to Northern provinces for the past week.

Continues drought in the Northern provinces and remote districts cased the food shortage in these provinces and the government adopted serious measure to avert any possible humanitarian tragedy in the winter.

Meanwhile Muhammad Ihsan Zia said that the World Food Program (WFP) already started delivering food to vulnerable regions.

Officials claim the 826000 tones of food had already reached to remote district of Bulkh province and distributed freely among the people.

According to him, free distribution of food among needy families mostly solved their problems before coming the harsh winter.

He added series of food distribution and food delivering is underway to the mentioned provinces.

Last month, a leading foreign think-tank warned of a looming disaster unless immediate aid reached the country's most vulnerable people before winter set in.
