Denmark to Support Georgia’s Entering NATO by Any Mechanism, Parliament’s Speaker

Georgia, Tbilisi, 28 November / Trend corr. N.Kirtskhalia/ "Copenhagen confirms its recent years' support for Tbilisi," Speaker of the Georgian Parliament David Bakradze said after his meeting with Danish Prime Minister Anders Fogh Rasmussen on 28 November.

Denmark actively supports Georgia's entering NATO and establishment of close relations with the European Union," Bakradze said.

"Denmark is ready to support any mechanism of Georgia's entering NATO, irrespective of whether that is NATO MAP or some other mechanism," said Bakradze.

Situation around conflict areas in Georgia, as well as ways of settlement, were discussed during the meeting with Danish Prime Minister. "We separately discussed the relations between EU and Russia in the light of Georgian events and we emphasized that Moscow does not fulfil its obligations of the Sarkozy-Medvedev agreement dated 12 August," Speaker said.
