There is Great Potential to Enhance Kyrgyz-Turkish Partnership: Foreign Minister

Kyrgyzstan, Bishkek, November 29/ Trend corr R. Mashadihasanli/ The trade turnover between Kyrgyzstan and Turkey exceeded $180mln over nine months of 2008, Kyrgyz Foreign Minister Ednan Karabayev said during his meeting with his Turkish counterpart Ali Babacan.

Karabayev said there is a great potential to strengthen partnership between the two countries. "This is indicated by the trade turnover which totaled to $180mln over nine months," Karabayev noted.

The meeting of foreign ministers focused on bilateral cooperation between Kyrgyzstan and Turkey. Karabayev emphasized the realization of a long term program on trade and economic cooperation between the countries until 2011.

" Kyrgyzstan appreciates prospects of cooperation within the Assembly of the Turkic Speaking states and enhancing Kyrgyz-Turkish cultural cooperation," Karabayev added. The meeting also focused on the work of Kyrgyz-Turkish Inter-Governmental Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation.

Ali Babacan expressed his confidence that the bilateral cooperation in cultural and humanitarian spheres between Kyrgyzstan and Turkey will deepen further.
