Parliamentary Minority Describes Changes in Government as Inadequate

Politics Materials 9 December 2008 12:36 (UTC +04:00)

Georgia, Tbilisi, 9 Dec/ Trend corr N. Kirtskhalia/ The parliamentary opposition described changes in the Georgian government as inadequate. The opposition especially disapproves appointment of Nika Rurua as minister of culture and sport who has worked for law enforcement agencies for a long time.

"Changes made to the government look like a show of surprises where all await something unexpected. Apparently, Georgian President finds it difficult to find people who are good at their profession and appoints a person, who deals with tanks and guns better, as minister of culture," leader of the parliamentary minority Giorgi Targamadze said.

He did not say anything about the appointment of the minister of economic development Lasha Zhvaniya and minister of defense David Sikhuralidze, who served as deputy minister of defense under Irakli Okruashvili and later appointed Ambassador to the United States.
