Turkmen President addresses to population due to Day of Neutrality
Turkmenistan, Ashkhabad, Dec. 12 / Trend , corr. S.Kurbanov/ Turkmen President Gurbangulu Berdimukhammedov addressed to the population due to the Day of Neutrality.
"Dec.12 1995 was written to the history of the Turkmen people with gold letters. On this day the U.N. General Assembly adopts a resolution on recognition and support of Turkmen permanent neutrality status," the President said while performing before people.
"Turkmenistan has become the first country, whose neutrality status was recognized by the U.N. The document was supported by 185 states," Berdimukhammedov said.
"For the state with recent independence this status became the evidence of huge confidence from the side of the world community and a chance for the country to play the role of peacemaker. The talks had been held in Ashkhabad to settle the conflict situation in Tajikistan and Afghanistan. A regional headquarters of the U.N. on preventive diplomacy was opened in Ashkhabad a year ago," the President said.
The military doctrine of Turkmenistan is based on the defence sufficiency, the country enters none of military and political blocs, it rejects arrangement of military bases in its territory. From the very beginning the military operation of the NATO forces in Afghanistan official Ashkhabad agreed to grant transport corridor exclusively for humanitarian loads
Berdimukhammedov proposed United Nations a number of initiatives, among which there were the adoption of convention on providing of safety for the pipeline infrastructure and economical utilization of available water resources in the region. "Turkmenistan is the country, which uses its peacemaking possibilities in the interests of entire world, which realizes many projects, called to serve the interests of entire humanity, stick to the principles of "open doors" policy, diversification of conclusion of its energy resources for the world markets", Berdimukhammedov added.
Turkmenistan is connected with diplomatic relations with 125 states and 40 international organizations. In particular, the Turkmen embassy's activity in Baku was restored during Berdimmukhamedov's governing, which made it possible to begin the launch dialogue of Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan on the issues of mastery of boundary fields and use of a transport corridor through the Caspian region
