Azerbaijan, Baku, Dec. 28 /corr. Trend , U.Sadikhova / Air strikes of Israel to the Gaza Strip were committed in response to ceaseless rocket attacks by HAMAS on Israeli territories.
On Dec. 25, HAMAS launched 80 Kassam rockets to the territory of Israel, and therefore the country had to defend its population and attacked on infrastructures in the Gaza Strip, the Israeli embassy in Azerbaijan said to Trend .
As a result of Israel's attack to Gaza 238 Palestinians died, mostly local population.
"We used all measures to reach truce and a temporary agreement was achieved with HAMAS through the mediation of Egypt. However, leaders of the movements broke the agreement themselves," Israeli Foreign Minister Tsipi Livni said.
According to Livni, HAMAS is responsible for the damage, caused to the local population in Gaza. "Despite of the struggle against HAMAS, Israel believes in coexistence of two states and loyal to principles of the truce that was achieved at the conference in Annapolis," Livni said.
The firing between the Palestinian movement of HAMAS and Israel took place after expiring the six months term of ceasefire agreement on Dec. 19.
HAMAS leaders said rocket firing were directed against the Israeli blockage of Gaza, which caused humanitarian catastrophe in the region.
