Azerbaijani opposition appeals to Baku administration to protest Radio Liberty decision

Azerbaijan's opposition Musavat party appealed to the Baku City Administration to hold a protest.

"Musavat will protest the closing of Radio Liberty, Voice of America and BBC on national frequencies at the Azerbaijani National Television and Radio Broadcasting Council," the party's press service said.

On Jan. 1, BBC, Radio Liberty and Voice of America stopped broadcasting on Azerbaijani frequencies due to a NTRBC decision on Dec. 30.

Musavat was founded in Baku in 1911. The party was re-launched on Nov. 7, 1992. Isa Gambar was elected head of the party. Gambar is a former parliamentary speaker. He ran for president during the 2003 election.
