Head of Turkish delegation to PACE elected speaker on Golodomor events

France, Strasbourg, Jan. 29/ Trend A. Maharramli/ Head of Turkish delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) Movlud Javushoglu was elected speaker on Golodomor events at the meeting of the Political Affairs Committee on Jan. 29

Other speaker Andreas Herkel failed to take this position.

The Demographic and Social Research Institute under the Ukraine's National Academy of Sciences exactly calculated the number of Golodomor victims. According to research, roughly 3.5 million people died from starvation in Ukraine in1932-1933.

Roughly 940,000 able-bodied people of 15-60 years old, 262,000 old people and 800,000 children died of starvation in Ukraine's towns. Roughly 600,000 able-bodied people, 242,000 old people and 594,000 children died from starvation in villages.

According to researchers, the same number of people died as five previous years ago in March-July 1933. Most people died in Kiev, Kharkov, Vinnitsa, Chernigov, Odessa and Moldova Autonomous Republic being a part of Ukraine at that time. Mass starvation in USSR in 1932-1933 is named as Golodomor.
