On March 2, Kyrgyz President Kurmanbek Bakiyev met with state agency heads to discuss the country's economy, the presidential press office reported.

Bakiyev told the government to make proposals to amend the Law on Public Procurement, as well as the Law on the State Budget and Forecasts for 2010-2011 within two weeks.

"The global financial crisis has affected the country's economy, including Kyrgyz exporters. Obviously, the demand for our agricultural producers and construction-materials manufacturers has decreased. We must amend the legislation," Bakiyev said.

Bakiyev also instructed Presidential Administration head Daniyar Usenov to build and reconstruct roads.

"First of all we should revive the construction industry. This will help us develop domestic construction materials," Bakiyev added.
