Georgian Foreign Ministry releases results of NATO meeting

The Georgian Foreign Ministry officially released the results of the NATO-Georgia Commission meeting at NATO headquarters in Brussels on March 5. NATO Secretary General Jaap de Hoop Scheffer presided over the meeting. Georgian Foreign Minister Grigol Vashadze led the Georgian delegation.
The meeting focused on Georgia's integration with NATO, conflict resolution and expanding Georgia's military potential in the occupied territories, democratic reforms and the economic situation in the country.
NATO members noted Georgia's progress and stressed their readiness to assist Georgian in joining NATO. They also supported the country's sovereignty and territorial integrity and urged Russia to fulfill a 6-point document.
They said NATO will reestablish relations with Russia as part of the NATO-Russia Council to discuss the conflict with Georgia in the future.
Grigol Vashadze and U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton met after the meeting.
On the same day, the minister held a news conference for Georgian and foreign journalists.
