Georgian Foreign Ministry regards air violated last week in the country as continuation of Russian aggression and hopes that the international community will react to this fact, deputy foreign minister David Djalagania said.

"Two helicopters invaded from the territory occupied by Russia," Djalagania said at a traditional weekly briefing on March 9.

The helicopters stayed some time over the territory controlled by Georgia and observed placing of the Ministry of Internal Affairs' forces, he said. Georgia firmly protests this fact and hopes that both EU monitors and the international community will adequately estimate it.

"It is continuation of aggression (Russia's) and the next attempt of provocation, Djalagania said. These provocations preceded August aggression."

As concerns yesterday's explosion in Akhalgori region and detention of two residents of Akhalgori accused of parricide, Djalagania said that Russian side and Ossetian separatists approved lawlessness in the occupied territories. "Yesterday's explosion in Akhalgori region also indicates to irresponsible attitude of occupants and low level of discipline in the Russian forces," he said.

Deputy minister called introduction of the zone of EU observers under control of occupants and separatists is the only way to normalize the situation.

"This fact demonstrated once again that EU observers can ensure security of local population and establish order in the occupied territories," Djalagania said.
