Azerbaijani opposition party launches negotiations to cooperate with other political organizations

The Azerbaijani National Independent Party (ANIP) has launched negotiations with other opposition parties on the cooperation to discuss social and economy issues, ANIP spokesperson Ali Orujov told Trend .

"We met with parties of the Alliance for Democracy. The Alliance said that the proposal would be reviewed at the meeting of the Council of representatives," Orujov added.

In early March, ANIP changed its political course. Now, party is occupied with discussion of social and economic issues and cooperates with political parties in this direction.

According to Orujov, he believes that the Alliance would agree to cooperate in this regard. He also stressed that the negotiations with other opposition parties was started. "The purpose of cooperation is to prevent the influence of social problems and global financial crisis on Azerbaijan", added Orujov.

ANIP was the first party received registration in Azerbaijan in 1992. Etibar Mammadov had been the founder and chairman of the party by 2004. Presently, Mammadov is the deputy chairman of the International Democratic Alliance.

Alliance for Democracy was founded by opposition parties - the Classic Popular Front, Azadlig and National Democracy after the 2005 parliamentary elections. In early September, the Great Azerbaijan Party joined the Alliance, and in November - People's Party. The Union is the organization of cooperation and consultation of the parties.
