Turkmenistan, Ashgabat, April 8 / Trend , G. Hasanov/

Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhammedov invited Russian President Dmitry Medvedev to pay a visit to Turkmenistan over the telephone conversation, official Turkmen source reported.

The date of the visit will be coordinated by diplomatic channels.

Turkmenistan and Russia have been economic partners for many years. Russian Gazprom buys great part of the Turkmen gas and exports it to Europe and Ukraine. Berdimuhammedov paid a visit to Moscow in late April. A number of intergovernmental agreements on law-enforcement and national security were signed at the meeting. Ashgabat opened an international tender on the East-West gas pipeline project after agreement on the construction of the gas pipeline in Turkmenistan was canceled, Russian media reported.

During the telephone conversation Heads of the State expressed their satisfaction with the dynamics of intergovernmental dialogue and noted significance of regular bilateral consultations and coordinated schedule of contracts.

Ashgabat is hosting Russian culture week at the moment.

Russian leader informed Turkmen President of the results of the G20 meeting in London.

The telephone conversation took place upon Russia's initiative.
