On April 20 Azerbaijan President Ilham Aliyev offered condolences to the Jewish community of Azerbaijan, AzerTaj state news agency reported.

"The Second World War, which caused massive human tragedy in history, is still a terrible black page in the lives of many people, especially Jewish people. During this bloody war, millions of people of Jewish origin became innocent victims of fascism, sustained intentional policy of genocide. In April 1943, the prisoners of the Jewish ghetto in Warsaw started strong protest against the bloody crimes of fascism, national-religious discrimination. They heroically died in the unequal battle of death and showed an example of honorable struggle for their national rights and human dignity," the message of State Head says.

Azerbaijani President expressed regret that various political and chauvinistic circles, jet regimes and ideologies that do not learn from the history today remain a source of grave danger for international peace and stability.

"The military aggression of Armenia against Azerbaijan, the policy of deportation and ethnic cleansing against our people, actions of mass destruction and terror, and finally the terrible massacre of Azerbaijanis in Khojali are bitter truth of our era. Each year the world community with great respect and sorrow commemorates heroism of Jewish people. On this national day of mourning, I express condolences on behalf of Azeri people," President's message says.
