French President Nicolas Sarkozy will make a trip to the South Caucasus and Kazakhstan. French President will visit Azerbaijan, Armenia and Kazakhstan as a part of the two-day visit on June 25-26, AzerTaj state news agency reported.
The French President will make a short stay in Georgia. This will be Sarkozy's third visit to Georgia for the last month.
Despite long-term multi-faceted ties between Azerbaijan and France, French President will visit Azerbaijan for the first time.
The trade turnover between Azerbaijan and France totaled $221 million in Jan.-Feb. 2009. Azerbaijan exported goods worth $183 million to France and imported goods worth $38 million.
French Total participates in the development of Absheron gas field in Azerbaijan. The PSA between the SOCAR and Total was signed in Feb. 2009. The cost of drilling of one exploration well is estimated at $100 million. The French Gaz De France Suez is also negotiating to obtain share in the contract.
