A meeting on launching of project realization "Improvement of equipment for ambulance in Baku" will be held on May 12 within total grant of aid by Japan.
Ambassador of Japan to Azerbaijan Masamitsu Oki, Azerbaijani minister of health Oqtay Shiraliyev, deputy minister Elsevar Agayev and representatives of corresponding organizations will attend the meeting, embassy of Japan to Azerbaijan told Trend .
The Japanese embassy and the Azerbaijani government signed the agreement on the project "Improvement of equipment for ambulance in Baku" in the Cabinet of Ministers on March 5, 2008.
The agreement envisages allocation of 222 million yen (about $2.05 million) within total grant program by the Japanese government.
Roughly 1,200 doctors and 1,200 ambulance nurses will be trained within the project. Activities of Baku's clinic hospitals N3, N6, hospital N26 and ambulance departments in Republican hospital of neurosurgery will be improved within implementation of the project. The project envisages familiarization with 2 kinds of equipment: reanimation equipment and equipment for medical staff training.
Total sum of grant has been allocated for Azerbaijan by the Japanese government since 1999 hits $1.03 billion. "Official aid program" envisages development of economic structure, agriculture, culture and social sector.
