Whole chapter of Keys to Caspian shelf book dedicated to Heydar Aliyev

Azerbaijan and its president Heydar Aliyev have special place in the new book Keys to Caspian shelf, author of the book, famous Kazakh oil industry worker Baltabek Kuandikov said at the presentation of the book on June 3.

"There is a whole chapter and photo dedicated to Heydar Aliyev in my book. I met him four times. During meetings we discussed many issues, especially delimitation of borders in the Caspian Sea," Kuandikov said. 

Experience of Azerbaijan was useful for Kazakh oil industry workers by launching developing of the Caspian Sea. Kazakh oil industry workers repeatedly arrived in Baku to get this experience. Meetings with leader of Azerbaijan Heydar Aliyev was very important for them, author of the book said.

"Heydar Aliyev was person with big heart. He supported me and wished success in my operations in the Caspian Sea," oil industry worker said.

Baltabek Kuandikov was one of founders of the company Kazakhstan Caspian shelf. His research served as basis for creation of the national company KazMunayGaz in the Republic. Author tells about the first Caspian project by drawing foreign investors implemented under leadership of the Kazakh president Nursultan Nazarbayev, as well as launching operations in the Caspian Sea. These operations led the country to unique discoveries.

The book Keys to Caspian shelf was published with assistance of editor-in-chief of Caspian magazine Eldar Agamalov. The book reflected materials collected during 15 years. When Baltabek Kuandikov applied to me, I was glad to help him," Agamalov said.

Editor-in-chief of Caspian magazine confirmed that Kuandikov met with Heydar Aliyev several times.

"When Kazakh delegation arrived in Baku, Heydar Aliyev received it. It deals with the fact that positions of Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan concerning the Caspian Sea were always similar. They fought for countries to design their national sectors, while positions of other Caspian countries were different," Agamalov said.

Minister of power engineering and mineral resources Sauat Minbayev, the president's advisor on the Caspian region, the first president of Kazakh oil JSC Nulan Balgimbayev, the first vice-president of KazMunayGaz Maksat Idenov, vice-president of North Caspian company Zhakip Marabayev, outstanding state and public figures, MPs of Majilis and the Senate of the Kazakh parliament, representatives of foreign companies, diplomats and other official people participated in presentation of the book.
