Founders of Azerbaijan International magazine awarded with premium of Hafiz Pashayev

Founders of Azerbaijan International magazine Pirouz Khanlou and Betty Blair were awarded with premium named after Hafiz Pashayev on July 1.
Premium named after Hafiz Pashayev was founded in development of relations between the USA and Azerbaijan. People making special contribution in development of bilateral relations between the USA and Azerbaijan are awarded with this premium. It was founded in 2008. Azerbaijani ex-ambassador to the USA was the first one awarded with premium.
Pirouz Khanlou and Betty Blair were awarded with this premium on July 1. They are founders of Azerbaijan International magazine published since 1993. It is the first magazine published in the USA. It gave full information about Azerbaijani culture and history.
"When we decided to award this premium for the second time, we awarded Pirouz Khanlou and Betty Blair. These people created this magazine during hard times in the USA in 1993. Magazine justified itself. All these projects in culture, language give people new information. We do everything to strengthen relations between the USA and Azerbaijan," U.S ambassador Ann Derse said. Magazine played its role in strengthening of relations between two countries, Derse said.
In his turn, rector of diplomatic academy Pashayev said that being ambassador of the USA he always tried to strengthen relations between two countries.
