A regional conference on Strengthening of cooperation in railway border passages in Central Asia ended in Balkanabat, Turkmenistan on Jul. 2.

Major topics of discussions at the conference were the role of international legal mechanisms in developing passenger and cargo transportation by rail, coordination of railway documentation and application of better international experience to develop cargo transit in Central Asia.

According to Zekoli, it is especially relevant in connection with the forthcoming chairmanship of Kazakhstan in OSCE next year.

Kazakhstan offered the theme "Stimulation of effective border passage control, increase of overhead transport security and simplification of international automobile and railway transit in the OSCE region" as a topic of the Economic and ecologic forum next year.
