The President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev extended congratulations to the U.S. President Barack Obama and the whole American people on the national day of the country - the Independence Day, AzerTAj state news agency reported.
Today the United States and Azerbaijan are connected by friendly and cooperation relations, the message says.
"We also attach great expectation to the efforts the United States makes as a OSCE Minsk Group co-chair for peaceful and quick settlement of our painful problem, the Armenia-Azerbaijan, Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, in the framework of international legal norms and fairly," said in the congratulation message.
The Head of State also expressed confidence that in the coming years the two countries shall persistently continue efforts for all-round development of inter-state relations, strengthening partnership even more.
