Azerbaijan, Baku, July 13 / Trend , A.Huseynbala/

There are no Azerbaijani citizens amongst the victims and those injured as a result of the unrests in Urumchi, Azerbaijani Ambassador to China, Yashar Aliyev, told journalists on July 13.

As a result of the unrests, 156 people died in the administrative centre of Sintzyan-Uygur Autonomous Region (SUAR), Urumchi, on July 6. Demonstrators burned cars, pulled down police barriers and damaged buses.

According to the latest figures of the local law-enforcement bodies, 156 people died and 816 were injured. Earlier three civilians and a policeman were reported to have died during the clashes. Protestors expressed their concern in connection with the deaths of two Uygurs during clashes amongst toy factory workers in Kwangtung province.

Approximately 50 Azerbaijani citizens termporarily living in China have applied to the embassy to assist them to return to their homeland and the embassy is currently engaged in this issue, Aliyev said.
