Georgia, Tbilisi, July 18 / Trend , N.Kirtzkhalia/

The EU "trio" is on visit in Georgia. They met with opposition leaders on July 18. Leader of "Our Georgia-free democrats" Irakliy Alasaniya and leader of social movement "Defend Georgia" Levan Gachechiladze presented the opposition in a meeting between Karl Bildt and the Georgian foreign minister.

The meeting was held behind the closed door for an hour, after which representatives of the EU "trio" did not make any statement.

Two issues, including interior situation in the country and the way outs of current political crisis, were discussed during the meeting with the European diplomats, Alasaniya said.

Alasaniya appraised the EU position on non-recognition of the separatist regions, but it is not enough.

"We discussed how EU influential role may be increased in these regions and what should be done for it," Alasaniya added, however he did not specified which proposals were presented to the EU "trio".
