Azerbaijani pro-governmental party determined list of candidates for municipal elections in Azerbaijan.
"Our party intends to nominate candidates for all municipalities in Azerbaijan," chairman of Azerbaijan Democratic World party Mammad Alizadeh told Trend on July 20.
Municipal elections are scheduled for December 2009 in Azerbaijan but parliamentary elections - autumn 2010. Earlier, municipal elections were held in 1999 and 2004.
The Azerbaijani parliament approved the law Union of Several Municipalities in Azerbaijan in May. Upon the law, number of municipalities will be reduced from 2,757 to 1,766 in Azerbaijan. Alizadeh said that council of board has already decided to participate in elections independently.
"Plans concerning joint participation of pro-governmental parties in municipal election were not realized. We will make all efforts for candidates to win," chairman of the party said.
Alizadeh said that names of candidates will be announced after official start of municipal elections.
Pro-governmental party was established in 1992 but passed registration in the ministry of justice in 1993. Mammad Alizadeh heads the political organization. The party supports policy of New Azerbaijan Party having power in 1993.
