Georgian Parliament move to Kutaisi to cost 50 million lari

Georgia, Tbilisi, Jul.21 Trend N.Kirtzkhalia /
Move of the Georgian Parliament to Kutaisi will take 50 million lari from the public budget, a majority MP, who initiated moving the parliament to his home town Kutaisi, Akaki Bobokhidze, said.
Within two days the initiative group has gathered 30,000 signatures and submitted to the State Chancellery.
According to Bobokhidze, construction of a new building for the parliament in Kutaisi will be possible within two years. The move targets further rapprochement between Tbilisi and Kutaisi. Owing to a high-speed highway, the road from one city to another will take only an hour and ten minutes. At present, the initiative is under the consideration. "I think if agreement is reached, expenditure would be acceptable to implement the project. Let the budget tolerate difficulties one year and allot money to construct the building, Bobokhidze added.
The president approved the idea in his yesterday's [July 20] speech in the parliament.
