Presidential elections in Kyrgyzstan have begun in an atmosphere of calm - CEC

Head of analytical department of the Central Election Comission Bakyt Zhumagulov confirmed Trend correspondent, that all the polling stations opened on time by 8 am. No incident was reported from the field, the beginning of the presidential elections takes place in a calm atmosphere, said CEC's Officer .

Today at 8 am in Kyrgyzstan, presidental elections started. Candidates for the highest post are six - existing President Kurmanbek Bakiyev, one promoted by the opposition Almazbek Atambaev, the leader of a political party "Akshumkar" Temir Sariev, a famous physician narcologist Jenishbek Nazaraliev, a public figure Toktoayym Umetalieva and leader of the Informal Muslim Association Nurlan Mota.

About 2 million 718 thousand 818 Kyrgyzs will vote for the new president. According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs about 140 thousand are located abroad.2 thousand 281 polling stations opened in the country and  49 stations set up outside the republic - in the 23 countries where there are diplomatic and consular authorities of Kyrgyzstan. Total there were made 2 million 872 thousand 181 ballot.

Monitoring of ongoing elections will be carried out by 516 international observers. For example, the OSCE sent 250 short-term observers. Representatives of the CEC of Azerbaijan - two members of the Central Elections comission and one member of the secretariat will also work 23 July in Kyrgyzstan. 85 foreign journalists are accredited.
