Azerbaijan, Baku, July 30 / Trend , U.Sadikhova /
Turkey is one of the countries that make efforts to help the Palestinian leadership in convening the sixth conference of the Palestinian Fatah movement, Fatah official spokesperson Fahmi Zaarir told Trend .
"Turkey also contributes to the preparation of the sixth conference so that all members of the movement [Fatah] are able to participate in the conference in Bethlehem, Zaarir said by telephone from Ramallah. - We hope that the efforts of Turkey will be able to yield a positive result".
The Palestinian Administration has appealed Turkey, Egypt and Russia for help in the mediation in order to assist in arrival of members of Fatah from Gaza to the West Bank to attend the conference to be held on August 4.
The government of the West Bank made an official request to the Foreign Minister of Turkey, Ahmed Davudoglu and special representative of Russian President in the Middle East, Alexander Sultanov, to persuade Hamas to allow Fatah members from Gaza to attend the conference.
Earlier, Fatah representative Nabil Shaath declared the impossibility of convening a conference, unless all prisoners of Fatah in the Gaza Strip are released and are able to participate in its work, Al Jazeera website reported.
As a result of eviction of the Palestinian Administration troops, the Palestinian Hamas movement controlling the Gaza Strip banned 400 members of Fatah to leave the enclave to travel Bethlehem, said Palestinian sources.
According to Zaarir, the main topic of the conference will be detailed discussions over the problems of Fatah, and the members of the movement in the end of the conference will strive to achieve success in mobilizing the forces and abilities of Fatah for future political activity.
Zaarir added that the conference will involve only members of Fatah, since it will focus on the problems of the Palestinian movement.
With regards to the participation of Turkey as a mediator in the Palestinian national dialogue between Fatah and Hamas, Zaarir said that an official observer in the dialogue is still Egypt, but the Palestinian Administration always welcomes support for the success in national dialogue.
According to him, the Palestinian leadership studies every opportunity to succeed in a dialogue with Hamas in the upcoming talks to be held in Cairo in late August.
The stumbling block of the Palestinian parties is political prisoners both on the West Bank and Gaza Strip, the distribution of ministerial portfolios in the future national government, as well as the introduction of the security forces of Fatah into Gaza.
