Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan discussed prospects for bilateral cooperation in security

Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan discussed prospects for bilateral cooperation in security

Minister of National Security (MNS) of Azerbaijan, Lieutenant-General Eldar Mahmudov received Chairman of the National Security Committee (NSC) of Kazakhstan, Lieutenant-General Amangeldi Shabdarbayev, who is on an official visit to Azerbaijan, the center for public relations of the MNS told Trend on Oct. 2.

Mahmudov assessed NSC Chairman's visit to Azerbaijan as a next step taken towards the further development of cooperation between the relevant agencies of the two countries.

At the meeting the sides exchanged views on the work in combating transnational organized criminality, terrorism, drug trafficking, the processes of migration, as well as the safety of bio-resources of the Caspian basin and energy security. The sides mentioned the importance of increasing the intensity of exchange of information and experts in all spheres between the special services of Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan.

Minister Eldar Mahmudov informed about the current operational situation and factors affecting it, the activities carried out by Azerbaijan in combating international terrorism, and in general about the security problems, the negative consequences that have arisen in the uncontrolled territories as a result of Armenian-Azerbaijani Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.

Amangeldi Shabdarbayev said he was pleased with the results of discussions over urgent issues in ensuring interests of both countries. He also expressed satisfaction with the development of relations between Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan, as well as the relevant structures of the two countries.

At the meeting was also held an exchange of views on other issues of mutual interest.
