A monument to the founder of the Turkish Republic, Mustafa Kemal Ataturk was erected in the center of Astana on the bank of the Ishim river, a representative of the Azerbaijani Embassy in Kazakhstan, attending the opening ceremony, told Trend .
"The opening ceremony was attended by Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev, who in his speech called Mustafa Kemal Ataturk's as Great Turk and noted for his contributions to the unification of all Turkic peoples and in the development of Turkey," said the representative of the Azerbaijani Embassy.
The Turkish Ambassador to Kazakhstan, Atilla Gunay also attended the opening ceremony of the monument.
The author of the design of the monument is the Kazakh Sculptor Bakhitzhan Abishev.
