Georgia has nominated director of the Center for Journalism in Extreme Situations, Oleg Panfilov for the OSCE Representative on Freedom of the Media, Internews Georgia reported.

Earlier it was reported that the list of candidates includes Secretary of the Union of Journalists of Russia Mikhail Fedotov. Fedotov said this in an interview with Radio Liberty. He said candidates from Russia, Georgia, Great Britain, Austria, Bulgaria, Bosnia and Herzegovina had been nominated.

The OSCE Representative on Freedom of the Media was established in 1997. At present Miklos Haraszti, the representative of Hungary is occupying this position and his term comes to an end next spring.
