The Georgian Foreign Ministry confirmed the incident between the U.S. military and residents of Tbilisi. "I do believe blows between American militaries and the Georgian citizens will grow into a scandal", Georgian Deputy Foreign Minister Nino Kalandadze said at the traditional Monday briefing on Nov. 2. Kalandadze was commenting on the incident occurred on Nov.1.
According to the unofficial data, on Nov.1 three drunken American militaries fought with two residents of Tbilisi. The latter were injured, but the Georgian officials, as well as the U.S. Embassy in Georgia do not comment on the incident.
According to Kalandadze, she does think that fighting of the U.S. military with the citizens of Georgia will grow into a scandal. Commenting on the incident, she said: "I do not think this issue requires any diplomatic intervention."
The incident occurred in off-duty time of the American soldiers, Kalandadze added.
