Azerbaijan, Baku, November 2 / Trend , D.Khatinoglu /

Karzai's government is legitimate, said Khalid Poshtun, deputy chairman of the parliamentary committee on internal security in Afghanistan.

Despite that Abdullah Abdullah refused to participate in presidential elections, he did not boycott them, Poshtun told Trend by telephone from Kabul on Nov. 2. "Karzai was elected president in accordance with the law," said the deputy chairman of the parliamentary commission.

Due to the fact that Karzai remained the only candidate for the second round of presidential elections scheduled for November 7, the elections were annulled, the head of the Independent Election Commission of Afghanistan, Davud Ali Najafi, told Trend by telephone from Kabul.

According to him, today at 16:00 local time, it was announced that Hamid Karzai was elected president of Afghanistan.

According to Poshtun, Karzai will give consent to Abdullah's appointment to a high position at the Cabinet of Ministers, which will satisfy his supporters.
