Mexico hosts Azerbaijan-Mexico political talks

Azerbaijani and Mexican officials discussed bilateral cooperation, regional security, drug and human trafficking, transnational crime and energy cooperation in Mexico City this week. The talks were held during Deputy Foreign Minister Araz Azimov's visit to the country, the Azerbaijani Embassy in Mexico told Trend News today.

Azerbaijani and Mexican officials discussed bilateral cooperation, regional security, drug and human trafficking, transnational crime and energy cooperation in Mexico City this week. The talks were held during Deputy Foreign Minister Araz Azimov's visit to the country, the Azerbaijani Embassy in Mexico told Trend today.

During his visit, Azimov met with Mexican Foreign Ministry U.N. Department Director General Pablo Macedo and Mexican Deputy Foreign Minister Maria De Lourdes Aranda Bezuary.

The sides noted the successful development of bilateral relations and expressed the importance of expanding legislative framework and cooperation in economics, trade, IT and education.

Azimov informed Mexican officials about the Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict and negotiations surrounding the conflict's resolution.

He also thanked Mexico for the country's support in the U.N. when discussing the resolution of the situation in the Azerbaijani occupied territories.

Azimov also met with the heads of foreign diplomatic missions in Mexico, and spoke at the Mexican Diplomatic Academy on "Azerbaijan and Regional Security." Members of the Mexican Foreign Ministry, academy students, Azerbaijani Ambassador to Mexico Ilgar Mukhtarov attended the meeting

During his visit, Azimov participated in the official opening ceremony of the local Azerbaijani Embassy.
