Within combating drug trafficking, Azerbaijan's Ministry of National Security (MNS) exposed and defused persons smuggling drugs from Iran to Azerbaijan. A total of over 183 kilograms of drugs were revealed and withdrawn from them, the Ministry's center of public relations told Trend on Dec. 3.
At the next stage of search operations conducted jointly by the MNS and Drug Trafficking Control Service of Russia, 91.3 kilograms of hashish, sent to Russia by the Azerbaijani citizens Movsum Isgandar and Mirzayev Vagif, were discovered and withdrawn in the Makhachkala city.
As a result of other operational activities conducted by the MNS, another attempt of smuggling drugs was prevented. Entering into agreement, a citizen of Azerbaijan Natig Farajov, citizens of the Islamic Republic of Iran and other persons who are being identified transported large volume of smuggled drug into the territory of Azerbaijan from Iran through the customs border, bypassing customs controls.
As a result of operational-search activities, Natig Farajov was arrested in the village Shuvi, about 16 kilograms of hashish resin was revealed and withdrawn from him.
As a result of other operational activities conducted by the MNS, another attempt to smuggle drugs was prevented. Entering into, citizens of Azerbaijan, Alekperov Ilham, Fatullayev Valeh, Imanov Zamin, citizens of the Islamic Republic of Iran and other persons who are being identified transported large volume of smuggled drug into the territory of Azerbaijan from Iran through the customs border, bypassing customs controls.
As a result of operational-search activities conducted by the Ministry of National Security, members of the gang were detained, and over 50 kilograms of hashish and about five kilograms of opium were discovered and withdrawn from them.
As a result of other operational activities, were exposed the members of another gang smuggling drugs. Making agreement, the citizens of Azerbaijan Hamdamov Hajiamin, Hamdamov Intizar, citizens of the Islamic Republic of Iran and other persons who are being identified transported large volume of smuggled drug into the territory of Azerbaijan from Iran through the customs border, bypassing customs controls.
As a result of operational-search activities by the employees of the MNS, Hamdamov Hajiamin was detained and over 21 kilograms of hashish resin was revealed and withdrawn.
Criminal cases were filed over all facts.
