Officials in Minsk are organizing Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko's visit to Azerbaijan, Belarus Ambassador to Azerbaijan Nikolay Paskevich said.
The visit will be held in the first six months of 2010, the diplomat said.
"Cooperation between Azerbaijan and Belarus expanded in many spheres in 2009. But we plan to further develop bilateral relations," the ambassador said at a press conference today.
Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev's visit to Belarus will be remembered as the starting point of a new stage in bilateral ties, Paskevich said.
A package consisting of seven bilateral documents and a joint declaration to increase cooperation were signed during the president's visit to Minsk.
"We also plan to actively cooperate within the EU Eastern Partnership in 2010," Paskevich said.
