Restoration of justice for the Palestinian people is the only way to achieve peace in the Middle East region. It is time for Europe to voice its opinion on the Palestinian issue, the Palestinian delegation head to the EU Leila Shahid said today at a seminar Russell Tribunal on Palestine.
The first session of the Russell Tribunal on Palestine which will take place in Barcelona from March 1-3, 2010 will focus on the failures of the International Community in solving Israel-Palestine conflict and military actions of Israel in Palestine.
Heads of the countries did not do their work and failed to fulfil their responsibilities in the Peace Processes in the Middle East by letting Israel to violate the International Law, she said.
The Russell Tribunal, she added, which is composed of representatives from all countries, including Israel, and which is not connected with any political party or a state organization is a citizens' initiative to realize the International law in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
Shahid confirmed that the Goldstone Commission report on the Gaza Conflict was an evident proof of the capacity to fill the vacuum on the conflict in spite of the gloomy situation in the whole region.
The conclusions of the last EU External Relations Council on the Peace Process which did not bring anything new aimed to give a much clearer and net picture of the settlement of the Palestinian problem.
The Russell Tribunal was initiated in 1966 by Lord Bertrand Russell, Nobel Prize of literature to investigate war crimes committed in Vietnam.
