About 41,700 observers have been registered to monitor the municipal elections in constituencies.
"The observer registration process for those wishing to monitor the elections ended yesterday evening," CEC Press Service head Azer Sariyev told Trend yesterday.
The Azerbaijani municipal elections are scheduled for Dec. 23. About 15,682 members are expected to be elected for 1,718 municipalities.
Azerbaijan has registered about 32,000 candidates from 30 main political parties.
Municipal elections were held twice in 1999 and 2004.
Sariyev said according to the electoral code observer registration should end five days before elections.
The CEC registered 1,138 local observers; 135 are political party representatives; 802 local observers were registered upon their own initiative.
Ten candidates have also registered as observers.
