A constructive approach will be maintained at a high-level Turkmen-Russian meeting within Russian President Dmitry Medvedev's working visit to Ashgabat, Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhammedov said at a governmental meeting.

"The next Turkmen-Russian summit will be an important step in deepening traditional dialogue with this country. We have a new dynamic and a more constructive approach to define formats for cooperation," a Turkmen state press service quoted Berdimuhammedov as saying.

Medvedev will arrive to attend the opening ceremony of a new building for the Alexander Pushkin Turkmen-Russian Secondary School in Ashgabat.

Experts say Berdimuhammedov and Medvedev will discuss, gas cooperation during the meeting. After resolving technical issues on the main Central Asia-Center gas pipeline, Turkmen gas supplies to Russia have yet to resume. The parties have not been able to agree on gas prices or volume.

During the bilateral negotiations, ways to strengthen inter-state cooperation in several priority spheres will be discussed, Berdimuhammedov said.

Turkmenistan intends to continue fully developing traditional friendly, good neighborly relations with Russia, he said.

He added that Russia is an important strategic partner of Turkmenistan.
