Georgia, Tbilisi, Dec.22 / Trend , N.Kirtskhalia /

Negotiations to restore air transport between Russia and Georgia are not being held at the state level, Georgian Deputy Foreign Minister Nino Kalandadze told journalists today.

Today, Airzena said the company had appealed to the Russian Transport Ministry, requesting the permission to restart charter and regular flights along the Tbilisi-Moscow route.

These are a private company's talks, which bear no relation to the Georgian authorities," Kalandadze said.

However, she noted that the Georgian authorities "will be happy" and "will welcome" the resumption of air transport between the two countries.

While answering the question as to whether the Georgian authorities are ready to hold formal negotiations with Russia to restore air transport, the deputy minister said the Georgian authorities "are ready for any negotiations, but the issue is not on the agenda."
