Russia is confident in neighborly relations with Azerbaijan: committee member

Azerbaijan, Baku, Dec. 22 / Trend E. Tariverdiyeva /

Russia is confident that neighborly relations with Azerbaijan will continue.

"We are pleased with the work of our inter-parliamentary commission. We advanced in many areas of cooperation," Russian Council Deputy Head Svetlana Orlova said at a press conference following the commission's regular meeting in Baku today.

Relations between the two countries have developed recently in the humanitarian sphere.

A branch of Moscow State University was established in Baku, and the two countries' youths work closely together, Orlova said.

She added that presidents Ilham Aliyev and Dmitry Medvedev are not just colleagues, but also friends, who try to help each other in the most difficult situations.

"We are creating a commission that will deal with migration issues every day, not from meeting to meeting," the deputy speaker said.

The next meeting will be held in Russia, Azerbaijani Parliamentary Regional Committee Chairman Arif Rahimzadeh said today at a press conference.

"The parliament is a more democratic and open structure than others. So, we are entitled to raise most problematic issues such as migration issues. A special commission was set up to resolve these problems," Rahimzadeh said.
