Azerbaijani Ombudsman will monitor the municipal elections as an observer.

Operational information about the results will be transferred to this organization through a "hotline" of the CEC. These people passed state registration, received the necessary instructions and the CEC checklist for observers, as well as a certificate.

On the election day, Commissioner for Human Rights will be in the CEC Information Center for elections and will inform the media and the public about the summary results of these observations.

Several members of the ombudsman's office have already left to observe in the regions.

Azerbaijani municipal elections are scheduled for December 23.

Municipal elections were held twice in 1999 and 2004.

About 32,000 candidates to the municipalities have been registered in Azerbaijan. The candidates from 18 political parties have also passed registration. In general, the candidates on their party affiliation refer to 30 political parties.

The Central Electoral Commission will inform about the course of the elections during a day at 10.00, 12.00, 15.00, 17.00 and 19.00.
