The Central Election Commission of Azerbaijan has revealed a fact of interference in the municipal electoral process by the head of Naftalan district executive power.

"The Naftalan-Geranboy election commission number 96 received an appeal of interference in the election process by the head of Naftalan district executive power Musa Musayev," the head of the Central Election Commission of Azerbaijan (CEC) Mazahir Panahov said to a briefing on Dec. 28.

Panahov said that upon the appeal, a working group headed by the CEC member Tofig Hasanov was established and sent to Naftalan district. More than 30 people confirmed the fact of Musayev's interference in the election process.

According to CEC chairman, the investigation on this fact is continuing.  

The municipal election in Azerbaijan took place on Dec. 23. The voter turnout in the elections was 31.86 percent.
