Over 3,000 things forbidden for prisoners revealed in 2009

Over 3,000 forbidden things, including 747 cutting and thrust ones, 140 liters of alcoholic beverages, 89 mobile phones were revealed in prisons as a result of operative-search actions last year, the Azerbaijani ministry of justice penal service press-office told Trend News.

Over 3,000 forbidden things, including 747 cutting and thrust ones, 140 liters of alcoholic beverages, 89 mobile phones were revealed in prisons as a result of operative-search actions last year, the Azerbaijani ministry of justice penal service press-office told Trend .

Moreover, about 207 grams of different drugs, including 153 grams of heroin were found in prisons during a year. About seven facts of illegal drugs turnover were revealed in prisons in December. All materials connected with facts were submitted to investigatory bodies for further investigation.

According to operative information, about 0.223 grams of heroin were found in the prison No12 on Dec. 29 while checking Eynulla Fatullayeva and 0.081 grams of the same drugs while checking Shain Shamsiyev. Materials collected on this fact were submitted to the police department of Karadag region of Baku.

At present, about 4,845 prisoners are imprisoned in Azerbaijan due to illegal drugs turnover. About 2,797 are under compulsory medical treatment from drug addiction.
