Georgia moved forward in fulfilling its commitments to the Council of Europe, the president of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe (CoE), Swiss Foreign Minister, Micheline Calmy-Rey, said today at a joint news briefing in Tbilisi with Georgian Foreign Minister Grigol Vashadze.

"Our talks with the minister were very positive and constructive. We discussed Georgia's fulfillment of its obligations to the CoE, and I want to note that Georgia has moved forward in this respect," she said.

Head of the Committee of Ministers stressed that the organization was closely watching the processes in Georgia, as well as in "territories cut off from Georgia." "It firstly deals with issues of human rights, and we are ready to assist Georgia in this regard," she said.
