"We want to see Afghanistan as peaceful and prosperous country, a good neighbor and partner of all regional countries," Turkmen President Gurbangulu Berdimuhammedov said at the last governmental meeting.
He expressed confidence in productive dialogue on this issue that was successfully maintained over the years with the UN, whish had "enormous potential for peace," the Turkmen governmental press service reported.
According to the Turkmen leader, the UN Regional Center for Preventive Diplomacy for Central Asia established as a permanent body, whose mission to hold a constructive political dialogue in the region will contribute to joint development of models of politico-diplomatic settlement of the situation in Afghanistan.
The leader touched the Afghan issue in connection with the recent London Conference on Afghanistan, attended by the foreign minister of about 70 countries and influential international organizations.
Today the Turkmen media reported that Ashgabat calls to solve the Afghan problem "peacefully via the methods of modern diplomacy, consolidating the efforts of the international community under the auspices of the UN."
Turkmenistan financed the construction of socially important objects, particularly, schools and clinics, in Afghanistan. Turkmenistan's liquefied gas and electricity supplied to the neighboring country on a preferential low price is also significant contribution to development of Afghanistan's social and economic infrastructure.
