A four day international conference on disaster medicine and health security in the armed forces has started in Tashkent today.

A four day international conference on disaster medicine and health security in the armed forces has started in Tashkent today.

Conference has been organized by the Defense and the Health Ministries of Uzbekistan, medical management of the U.S. Central Command and the European George C. Marshall Center for Security Studies.

The conference will cover the issues related to preventive actions in armed forces and health of the personnel. In addition, the conference will focus on improvement of the system for providing emergency medical assistance in the field of disaster medicine, as well as providing mental health services in emergency situations. Special attention will be paid to the study of advanced practices, international medical-sanitary regulations of WHO and the problems encountered during the implementation of their demands.

The conference involved both military and civilian officials from the health authorities of Uzbekistan, Afghanistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Germany and the United States.
