A compilation of articles discussing violence, intimidation and legal cases against journalists in 2008-2009 in Armenia was presented March 3. The report was published with the support of the OSCE Office in Yerevan.
The publication was supported by the OSCE and produced by the NGO Investigative Journalists. The report looks at seven cases of violence and intimidation against journalists.
"Promoting freedom of expression and eliminating the harassment of journalists remain key challenges in Armenia. Violence against journalists is inadmissible and if it goes unpunished it will contribute to a climate of fear and self-censorship," said Carel Hofstra, the acting head of the OSCE Office in Yerevan. "A vibrant media is a key component in a democratic society."
